Hello, my name is Ghidaa Mohamed, and I am a future doctor. My interest in becoming a doctor didn't stem from inspiration that other doctors instilled in me. Rather, it comes from seeing the effects of a poor medical system. Growing up in Yemen, I was privileged enough to afford a doctor when I needed it, however many of my childhood friends did not have that opportunity. It was hard seeing those close to me succumb to illnesses that have cures.

As a result of this medicinal scarcity, I vowed to change the situation. At first, business management piqued my interest because I thought that money would be enough to reverse the effects. However, after traveling to Yemen in 2018, I saw that money can only get you so far. When I came back, I had a clear goal, and that was to be front and center in the rehabilitation of low income communities.

It has been my dream for many years to become a doctor and help my community. Because of my background, I have been discouraged to pursue such a competitive and challenging career path, but as George Herbert once said, "where there is a will, there's a way". During my journey, in 2020 I co-founded H.C.R International, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to giving low income communities the resources they need to thrive. We have done multiple outreach events and connected with local organizations to raise funds for both local and international economically-stricken communities.

In my free time, I like to watch modern British films set in the 1800’s because it’s mesmerizing to see how things have changed and how some things still remain the same. I hope to one day graduate as a doctor, and through H.C.R International, be able to first handedly help strengthen these communities.
