Psychology & Visual Arts

Hello! My name is Chisom Ezigbo, and I am a rising senior at Duke majoring in psychology and minoring in visual arts. I've been deeply curious about the underlying mechanisms of human behavior for as long as I can remember, and the arts have always had a crucial place in my life. I combine these interests by using my artwork to help bridge differences in verbal communication, promote mental health, and make healthcare more accessible. Since coming to Duke, I have been involved in several research projects in STEM and medicine, have taken a range of interesting courses, and have made a number of valuable student and faculty connections. In my final year at Duke, I will be participating in a Bass Connections project and continuing to volunteer at Duke University Hospital, work at the CSGD, and serve as president of DCC, among other endeavors. After completing my undergraduate education at Duke, I aspire to attend medical school and become a physician. In addition to my medical training, my practice will be shaped by a rich background in the humanities and a long-held commitment to serving a wide range of communities.

“Being pre-med can be a confusing, overwhelming, and isolating experience, especially for those from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine. The Cardea Fellows Program helps to alleviate this stress and make the process more navigable by providing much-needed guidance and support.”
