Biology & Chemistry

Hi! I’m Annie Nam, a junior and Cardea Fellow at Duke University. I am honored and excited to continue my education as part of the Cardea community, where I strive to make a meaningful impact both on campus and beyond. I plan to major in Biology and minor in Asian & Middle Eastern Studies and Chemistry, blending my interests in both science and culture as I aspire to become a pediatric anesthesiologist. My ultimate goal is to not only provide medical care, but also to be a source of comfort and encouragement to children and families during challenging moments.

At Duke, I am currently an undergraduate research assistant at the Center for Misophonia and Emotion Regulation, where I contribute to projects that explore the connections between clinical research on Misophonia and spreading awareness about treatment and management. I have gained valuable clinical exposure through shadowing experiences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I am also deeply engaged in campus life and I serve as a third-year senator on the Campus Life Committee in Duke Student Government, where I hope to help lead the advancement of student community and well-being. I am a proud third-degree black belt in Duke Club Taekwondo, which has taught me the importance of mentorship and teamwork.

Beyond my academic pursuits, I love traveling, watching sports, and meeting new people! As a Cardea Fellow, I am eager to continue building on my passions in medicine, leadership, and service. I really value curiosity and collaboration, so I’m excited to keep growing through the diverse opportunities available at Duke!
