Mental illness is common but stigmatized, so people are unable to access proper care. The world is going through turbulent times, from wars, natural disasters, and social and domestic conflicts. These situations often lead to anxiety, hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts/tendencies. Sometimes the illness is so subtle, an individual is not aware of what the problem is. I see enough in my immediate community. As a psychiatrist, I hope to create awareness of illness and provide appropriate treatment and psychosocial support. Without intervention, patients are not able to cope mentally, physically, and socially i.e. not able to function optimally. This creates a loss of manpower, relationships, and finances. The world is opaque and meaningless for most with mental illnesses, I look forward to bringing color into their lives as a psychiatrist.
