Whenever I am not at Duke, I enjoy traveling to visit my large extended family that lives across the states. Dancing has always been a large part of me, and I absolutely love attending classes in different cities to learn choreography and to be exposed to other styles to strengthen my own style and grow as a dancer. I came to college and joined the Dancing Devils Duke Dance team in order to continue her passion for competitive dance. I love meeting and interacting with people who are different from me--and through dance, she has been truly amazed by the human body and the movement of our anatomy.
I am a Evolutionary Anthropology major and a Chemistry and Education minor. I want to become an Orthopedic Surgeon and to be a medical missionary, spending part of her time overseas and some in the States, in order to continue my love for people everywhere. I dream of being able to teach medical procedures and practices to residents and doctors in other countries, and in U.S hospitals with lower-income and limited resources. I am also is a part of the Duke Chapel Scholars program and on the leadership team for the Duke CRU campus ministry. I tutor at local, low-income Durham elementary schools, and have a strong desire to changing the way the education system operates in the United States and abroad.
“Being in Cardea is a blessing — at Duke the groups you become a part are broad in interest, but it is amazing to be surrounded by a group of like-minded, diligent students who come along side of you in encouragement and support to work toward a shared passion in the medical field. Everyone contributes a piece of themselves that it so unique, it's incredible to see how each person approaches both college and academics differently, but we all work together to get to the same goal. ”
