I strategically chose my major of International Comparative Studies alongside my Global Health minor because the former teaches me how to think through regional and global issues from multiple lenses, while the latter allows me to apply the critical thinking skills to health and healthcare issues. I plan to pursue a master’s in health administration / Public Health degree in order to create and implement health interventions in both the U.S. and other countries. In this age of growing awareness of mental health needs, my long-term goal is to create a program that pushes for holistic health on a physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual level.
To develop my understanding of health systems and administration, I interned as a research assistant at the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research through the Global Health Institute at Duke. I also participated in an 8-week Duke Engage program focusing on Public Health and Public Policy where I served at a shelter that resources homeless youth in New Orleans.
Outside of healthcare, I am the treasurer of Every Nation Campus, a campus ministry at Duke, and a Gates Millennium Scholar. When I’m not doing schoolwork, I love to write poems, eat good food, and spend time with family.
Fun fact: I love to try new things, so when I came to Duke, I joined the Figure Skating team even though I've never been on the ice before!
