Hi, I'm McKenzie Cook from Denver, CO! Currently, I am a senior set to graduate in May of 2019. I am an International Comparative Studies major also pursuing a minor in both Chemistry and Spanish. As a pre-dental student, I hope to return to Colorado in the future to use my education and training to provide low-cost dental care to poor and underserved areas. On campus, I am involved with Duke Cheer and my non-denominational campus ministry, Alpha Omega. When I'm not dancing courtside in Cameron Indoor, I like to spend my time volunteering at El Centro Hispano as a tutor for elementary school kids. This year, I am excited to be a part of a Bass Connections research team focused on exploring health and psychological effects of poor sanitation in Lowdnes county, Alabama, and racial and economic justice in rural America as a whole. Being a part of Cardea has given me the support necessary to explore my many passions on campus while still maintaining a positive academic record. My personal motto is 'Don't miss a moment'. Cardea has aided me to do just that during my time here at Duke. If you are a first-year interested in Cardea, I would highly recommend you consider adding this wonderful organization to your list of activities!
“Being a Cardea Fellow has given me extra support that has been very necessary here at Duke. It's helpful to have an automatic study group whereas most students have to test out and find their own study groups or they don't study with others at all. We also have a groupme that is helpful when we need quick hints on web assigns. ”
