I am majoring in Public Policy with minors in Chemistry and Biology. I want to become a Physician Assistant specializing in Emergency Medicine; however, I am also interested in public health research. I want to become a PA because of its flexibility in specialization while maintaining similar responsibilities/abilities of a doctor.
Around campus, I am on the executive council for Blue Devil’s United, one of Duke’s LGBT+ student organizations, as the Vice President of Education. I am also a new EMT on Duke’s Emergency Medical Services so you may catch me in uniform at football and basketball games. Also, I will be working as an Advocate as part of the Division of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity for the Office of Public Advocacy in Duke Student Government where I will work on providing legal advice in regards to social justice rights on campus to students. Just this coming year I’m getting involved with Bass Connections, an interdisciplinary research program at Duke, where my project will look at family health history and its implications for treatment options. I spent my summer in Durham doing research with a program at Duke called Data+ looking at social determinants of health like race, socioeconomic status, and education levels and their effects on health outcomes.
