I have always been interested in preventive medicine and the social side of health, especially regarding marginalized communities. The summer before my sophomore year, I was able to virtually participate in the public health track of SHPEP at the University of Iowa. Through this experience and being a part of Cardea, I have been able to meet a lot of healthcare professionals doing important work in the field of public health, further solidifying my interest in working in public health. Outside of school, I am a member of SHAPE (Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention and Education), the Male Contraceptive Initiative's Youth Volunteer Committee, and Planned Parenthood Generation Action. Last semester I was a research assistant on a project for the LGBTQ+ Center for Durham and I hope to continue doing more public health-related research while at Duke.
