Kayenta, Arizona

Hello, my name is Brennan Begay and I am from Kayenta, Arizona which is located on the Navajo Nation. As a rising Junior, I am studying Evolutionary Anthropology with minor in Cultural Anthropology and Biology. On top of my major, I am concentrating in Anatomy and Paleoanthropology which provides the overall scope of the human body and its evolutionary aspects. With my passion in the medical field, I am interested in Biotechnology and quantitative studies in the applications of medicine which I am hoping to pursue a career in medicine or possibly Biomedical Engineering. As a Native American, I am hoping to return to the Navajo Nation to help and empower my community to pursue advanced education, especially in the math and sciences. I am involved in the Native American Student Alliance (NASA) group, which I was co-president my sophomore year, Men's Club Volleyball Team, and potential member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). This past year I volunteered in the Duke Children's Hospital as a child life volunteer and intending to shadow an oncologist in the hematology/oncology department. Outside of the classroom, I like to play tennis with friends, running, volleyball, cooking traditional foods, and performing stand up comedy.
