I am a Biology major, and I love my major because it combines all the subjects I like in science and makes it relevant to living systems and the environment. I am interested in emergency medicine or obstetrics and gynecology. I've had many opportunities to explore my interest in medicine at Duke. Participating in Duke Summer Biomedical Sciences Institute the summer before my sophomore year gave me the confidence and empowered me to continue pursuing medicine. After that summer, I became an EMT and joined Duke EMS which provided me with a different perspective towards medicine and healthcare. My experience through being an EMT pushed me to volunteer at Samaritan Health Center which is a local clinic that provides free health services to those without health insurance. Outside of medically related pursuits, I have been a resident assistant on campus for 3 years and I am the president of the Minority Association of Premedical Students (MAPS). In my free time I like to run, workout, read, write, and make playlists on Spotify.
